The Powers Of HeavenWe are extremely proud to present a world class concert of the 30 voice ensemble Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir in "The Powers of Heaven", a selection of orthodox music of the 17th and 18th centuries. The conductor is Paul Hillier, the leader in contemporary choral music. "Listeners can enjoy the sumptuousness of the harmony, the expansive range of the voices, and the careful balance and blend". The Choir tours regularly in Europe, the US, Canada, Japan, Israel and Australia. The concert takes place this November 5at 8 PM, immediately followed by a private reception to meet the artists in the Assembly Room of the Foundation. The concert is coordinated by Kirkby Lovallo (New World Classics and Harmonia Mundi) and produced by Chris Williamson. The venue is a neo gothic German temple (1849) and the Public Theater on Lafayette St. (1852), built by Berlin born architect Alexander Saeltzer, author of the first treatise of acoustics in America. The venue has cathedral high ceilings and exudes the enlightened humanism of Schiller, Beethoven and Heine. The show is Wednesday November 5, 2003 at 8 PM. Tickets for the concert, : $30.00.
