Miguel Vilarino: Poetry and Sparcity. An American Premiere.

This coming Friday, March 31, from 7 to 9 PM, will be the opening of the first American show of a new force in Spanish contemporary art. There will be on view 14 of his recent canvases full of poetic color and ascetic visions of life. The paintings range from 130 x 130 to 200 x 200 cms.

There will be a wine reception, and a piano recital to honor this American premiere of Miguel Vilarino, presented at the Angel Orensanz Foundation by Dolores de Sierra Art Gallery, from Madrid.

Miguel Vilarino was born in Morales del Rey (Zamora) in 1959 and has developed a very personal poetic language in painting and graphics. .

The Spanish art critic Javier Baron has pointed to” The proximity of death, that reveals the inconsistencies of good part of the concerns that encircle and punish us, constitute for the artist a strong standing point against the ephemeral There is a correlate with the simplicity of his compositions and the austerity of his colors, that strengthen their importance when they appear”.

Mr. Vilarino has consistently shown his work in Spain, Europe and Latin America. The Angel Orensanz Foundation is proud to lend its space to this creative new Spanish mind.

The exhibition will last until April 7, and will be open to the public from 11 AM to 6 PM daily, except Saturdays and Sundays, and by appointment.

A 30 minutes documentary of the exhibition will be broadcast by Time Warner TV, channel 34 and RCN channel 107. in the program “Arts from the Orensanz” on Friday May 5 at 9PM.
